The 7 habits of highly effective people - part twoBefore the author starts discussing the 7 habits, he describes the concept of effectiveness as the production/productiveness, meaning that effectiveness is the right balance between what is produced and the resources of the production. He gives an example of a farmer who found a chicken that gave him a golden egg daily, but he wanted more so he killed the chicken to get all the gold from inside her so he lost everything.the morale here is that he could have gotten the daily eggs as it is his maximum production power and would have made more production than trying to get more out of the chicken and destroying his resources. It is the same like not maintaining your car and using it extensively, it will be highly productive and would do more mileage that it should give but it'll wear out. So effectiveness is about that balance between the production and the resources and ability to produce.we are not just responses to the external circumstances, we are responsible, and by being responsible we lead our lives.we can take the lead by choosing our reactions, when you are in a certain situation that would make you act nervously choosing not to act nervously i taking the lead of your life. do not allow yourself to be a victim, you are responsible. There are two kinds of people those who are reactions and those who are actions and the difference is choosing or not choosing the response to the actions towards them.A good practice is to identify three zones, the zone in which you can you affect things directly, the zone in which you can you affect things indirectly and the zone which you cannot affect at all; start concentrating your energy to the first zone then the second and leave the zone of no effect and you will see in time that by giving more in the first two zones you will be able to make them wider and minimize the third.
