vethxxx is the kind of interface that KVM or LXC uses to get virtual networking 

I have been using LXC for sometime now, and i was facing this issue every now and then.

When i start and then later stop and LXC container sometimes LXC doesn't destroy the vethxxxx that it creates and after a few weeks i find i still have a bunch of vethxxx interfaces just hanging there and are not used, and as I don't like to have unused devices I needed to find ou how to actually get rid of them.

ifconfig is my tool to manage network interfaces but no luck with that one. ip is the tool to get something done in that regard

• create a veth interface
  • ip link add type veth
  • ip link add name veth0 type veth

• delete a veth interface
  • ip link del veth0
